ST: Ent, Fluid De Silver

Seen with: Tucker (Connor Trinneer), T'Pol (Jolene Blalock), Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis), and William Riker (Jonathan Frakes)

Episode: Broken Bow, These Are The Voyages, (and beyond?)

Star Trek: Enterprise (and beyond?)

This piece seems to have had a lot of work that went into this piece for it to have just been there as a background prop sitting in engineering. When tilted, the fluid flows flows into a separate compartment, then when tilted correctly, the fluid slowly flows back into the canister to create long-ish lasting visual silver currents.

I am still looking to see if this is a refit/modification to a previous prop but... maybe someone was just having a bit of fun with things laying around and figured, "what the heck?! It's my last day working for ST!"  This prop really does show up from the very beginning until the end.  Someone just really wanted to make it usable if they needed it!

"A set dressing item appearing frequently in the engineering section during various episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise. The item is made from molded resin, plastic, and acrylic components and contains an unknown pair of fluids held in two separate containers. On interior container holds a clear fluid, the outer container encapsulating the inner one contains a metallic silver fluid that evens out but appears in cloudy, dreamy movements. The silver fluid collects at the bottom of the item but upending it allows the silver to flood back into its chamber where it hangs for days. The item features multiple adhered details, and one of the inner containers is cracked by retains its ability to contain the fluids inside. The item measures approx. 14 X 6 inches diameter." - IAW

The fluid reminds me of those child toy baby bottles where where, when the bottle is tipped, the "milk" disappears into the head of the bottle as the bottle is not actually full, but contained between two tubes (an outer that hold the fluid in and an inner and has air on the inside of it).

After it has sat for a while.
The silver has settled and there is visible condensation on the inner air filled tube.

Visible crack on the inside plastic/glass

A special thanks to
Jörg for finding its first appearance in Broken Bow! screencap by Jorg

These are the Voyages
The way the light hits the fluid, you can tell that this item has been sitting for only about a day when Riker and Tori's scene, but it has been sitting for longer when they shot the scenes with Tucker.Canister visible above Troi's left hand shoulder
