Tamagotchi Philippines

Tamagotchi Mobile
Released by LivingMobile and Bandai in 2004, the famous virtual pet Tamagotchi finds its way to arguably the most used portable gadget of people today, the cellphone.  It mostly emulates the P1/P2 editions of the Tamagotchi.  Food is only the sandwich; the snack is only the candy.

If the tamagotchi got a graphics upgrade and got color, this is sort of what I imagined it to look like.  Of course, the new Tamagotchi editions had a graphic makeover already.  Our beloved Kuchipatchi doesn't look like the one in the picture above anymore.

You can also switch to pixel mode if you want to fully relive the first edition of the Tamagotchi.

It has three games: jump rope, catch? (you move your tama left or right to catch five falling happy faces) and guess? (you guess whether your tama would face left or right -- just like the P1 game)

You can also change shell colors from the 6 available (pink/yellow, yellow/orange, purple/pink, white/blue, green/yellow, blue/blue).  See the highlighted icon in the fourth screen above?  That's the icon they placed in the mobile edition to change the shell color according to what you like.

It doesn't run in full real time.  If it is not currently running in your phone, it will not grow at all.  Due to this flaw, it will get boring after a while since it will take quite some time for the tamagotchi to evolve.  Even if its running at its fastest, it is still slow.

After all, you can only feed and play with it so much.  It will also sap your battery much faster when it is running.  I've had this program for quite some time already, but I still only have one generation so far.

At least you have the option to skip the sleep stages of the tamagotchi.

What I like best about this edition is the inclusion of tama facts.  It may not be much gameplay-wise, but at least you get to know your tamagotchi character a little bit more.  Yes, you get to know facts such as -- a Kuchipatchi is a well-disciplined character but wasn't given enough love.  You'll know why you got a certain character because of these facts.

I'll try to post some screens of these facts some time soon.
