Tamagotchi Philippines

ï 2008-Oct-21 - Tamagotchi Size Comparison

Here we have six tamagotchis side by side for size and width comparisons.

From left to right: Tamagotchi P1, Tamagotchi Connection V2, Tamawalkie, Tamagotchi V4.5, Tamagotchi V5, Deka Tama.

For those worrying that the Tamawalkie might be too big to carry around, don't worry about it.  It's almost the same size as the currently released tamagotchis.

ï 2008-Sep-21 - The Home Deka

Presenting the Home Deka (aka Dekatama), and wow, it's certainly is big!  No, it's not a trick.  It really is big.

And when people saw it, they all wanted one.  After all, this is the first time they've seen a tamagotchi this big.

My Home Deka arrived today in the mail.  I instantly popped in two triple A batteries to start it up.  Everything works perfectly.  Yes, it's not the newest Tamagotchi, but since I don't have one in my collection, then it deserves a spot in mine and in Tamagotchi Philippines.

Unlike the regular Tamagotchi pet, the Home Deka doesn't need to be cared and fed.  The pet, as seen above, is a little girl, currently living in a shanty-like house.  Via playing games found in the Home Deka, you earn money to which you can purchase items and furniture for the house, or even upgrade the home unit into a more expensive house or even a palace.

I also tried the connecting feature with my Keitais.  Now, my Keitais don't need to wait for the roving salesman to buy items.  They can just purchase through the Home Deka's department store.

I'm still exploring its other functions.  Since it's really different from other tamagotchis, it will take me a bit longer to do so since I don't understand a lick of Japanese.  But hey, a little playing around and a little Googling will get me somewhere.

ï 2008-Aug-30 - Oh no! It happened again!

Back to Gen 1!
Another one of my Tamagotchis returns to its roots.

Just like
what happened to my Tamagotchi V3, the download facility for my Keitai failed after the battery died.  Suddenly, all the generations that I've attained while taking care of this Tamagotchi are gone in a blink of an eye.

It is really frustrating when this happens as all proof of your capability to take care of a Tamagotchi in the device disappears.  You're now back to square 1, as if this little toy is brand new.

Oh well.  This will set me back in my quest to bring all my Tamagotchis to Generation 99.

ï 2008-Aug-4 - Mateless Tamas

My collection of Tamas certainly has grown a lot over these months.  Starting with just one original Bandai Tamagotchi V3 in 2004, it has spawned to now 20+ tamagotchis under my care.  My friends over here want to already "kidnap" some of them as they still cannot believe that I can take care of many at the same time, and it has been certainly a subject of conversation.

Today, I'm actually only playing 18 of them, spanning across 7 tamagotchi versions.  All of them have one thing in common though; all of them have mates.  My Plus, Entama, Keitai, V3, V4, V4.5 and V5 have at least one partner for mating.

My P1s, P2s and Mothra do not have a mating function so they do not count.  However, I'm wishing that I could find mates for my other three "mateable" tamagotchis so that I will play with them more.  More so with Osutchi as it needs another mate for it to continue to the next generation instead of dying of old age.

It adds another aspect of the tamagotchis gameplay that I seem to enjoy.  It may be love perhaps, the experimentation process, or it may just be seeing the fireworks and giving birth animation brings a certain joy to me, like a pet owner seeing his female dog give birth to 6 puppies.  The matchmaker doesn't count though as I didn't raise the tamagotchi that she brings

ï 2008-Aug-1 - Everything, gone!

Ouch!

My "oldest Tamagotchi" V3 needed a change of batteries earlier today.  As I've done many times in the past, I changed the batteries as soon as I saw the battery icon with the large X scrawled on top of it.

Unfortunately, after I successfully replaced the batteries, it didn't ask me if I wanted to Download or Reset.  It just asked me for the time, as if I resetted the game or just opened it for the very first time.  I pressed the reset button once again in hopes to have that download option, but to no avail.

My tamagotchi was gone.

I don't mind the missing gotchi points, the items, the extra food and snacks as they can be easily replaced.  However, the friends list and more importantly, the generations logged can no longer be retrieved.  I have to start from scratch again, climbing that generation ladder one generation at a time.

I don't have a log at hand to know what generation my last tamagotchi was in, but since the V3 was released around 4 years ago already, I can only assume that it had a lot.

Oh well.  I just hope that this instance was only a glitch, and not a hardware failure (meaning when the batteries die again, everything is lost once more).  After all, it is indeed old.

Hey, pausing them is better than having them dying.

ï 2008-Jul-22 - Happy 1st Year Birthday, Tamagotchi Philippines!

HAPPY 1st Year BIRTHDAY Tamagotchi Philippines!

Exactly one year ago, Tamagotchi Philippines was born.  Created originally to document all Philippine-related Tamagotchi news (as there was no Tamagotchi resource here in the Philippines) and my extreme interest in these little virtual pets.

Since that day, the blog grew and expanded to other virtual pets, global news and more.  Unique hits averaged around 20-50 a day.  The site was featured in some blogs and forums.  Some Tamagotchi lovers in the Philippines browse this blog for updates in the Tamagotchi front, especially any events happening here in the country.

Thank you very much for your visits and comments!

ï 2008-Jul-17 - The Newest Member of my Family

It's not exactly new, but it is the latest one to be part of my collection.

It is the Tamagotchi Connection Version 2, the predecessor of the current Tamagotchi Familitchi/Connection V5.  This is the version before the Tamatown was created.

On a side note, I've been doing a lot lately and this has caused a certain degree of neglect.  I haven't killed anyone yet, but there are more occurrences of the universal characters compared to before.

To accommodate my busy schedule, I've paused all my Japanese Tamagotchis for the meantime.  I couldn't find the time to take care of 23 Tamagotchis at the same time.  I've finally succumbed to the challenge of taking care of that many virtual pets without disrupting my daily life.  I'll be unpausing them again once my schedule clears up, which probably will happen 2 weeks from now.

Since this one is a Connection, it will still be active along with its V3, V4, V4.5 and V5 brothers.  For now, I'm taking care of 1 V2, 2 V3s, 4 V4s, 2 V4.5s and 4 V5s.  It's still plenty, but rest assured that all of them will be taken care of.

ï 2008-May-22 - Adopting my Friend's V4

Let us all welcome the 20th tamagotchi under my care, A!

Today, one of my friends, Carla, gave me her V4 for adoption.  It's a blue one with the stars similar to what I currently have except that mine already has all the stars rubbed out due to use.

She experienced many Tamagotchi deaths and a bevy of Gozarutchis and Masktchis under her care.  I even remember one of my V4.5 mating with hers as she continually experienced the mating glitch where the V4 hangs when the matchmaker brings over the potential mate.  She still continued to play with it until the batteries ran out.  Since then, she hasn't touched the V4 until today.

Seeing that I can take care of 18 tamagotchis (I haven't activated the yellow V5 yet at this time as I plan to participate in a egg-hatching soon) at the same time without one dying (this is excluding the P1s, P2s and the partnerless Osutchi as death is part of their life cycle), she asked me if I could adopt her V4 and take care of it.  As a friend and tama-lover, I agreed to her wish, she brought it over from her house and I adopted the V4 today.

I placed a fresh battery (I always have Tama-batteries CR2032 at hand) inside and downloaded her character to get whatever she had at that time when the battery ran out.

She had a first generation unhappy (all the happy hearts were empty) 24 lbs, 1 year old young memetchi named "A".  "A" had skills consisting of 15 Intelligence, 14 Fashion and 10 Kindness and was sick.  With a 9/14 date tagged (I'm assuming that it was the date when the battery ran out), this young memetchi was resurrected from the download limbo after near 8 months and is now under my care.

I don't have to fully start from scratch though.  She had 680 gotchi points along with a wig, 2 chests and a plant in her items compartment, and a bottle of milk in the food area.  It's not much, but it'll do.

ï 2008-May-18 - Looking Forward to the V5.5

Now that the Tamagotchi V5 (Tamagotchi Familitchi) is already out in the Philippines, we can now start dreaming about the Tamagotchi Royal, or the Tamagotchi V5.5, the "cousin" of our V5.

Similar to the V4.5, this is a "refresh" of the V5.  Different characters, different games, different families, same concept.

So far, it's only out in Japan.  As the V5 was recently released here in the country, we will still probably have our Tamagotchi fix when this version arrives.  Hopefully, the time between the worldwide release and the Philippine release won't be too far from each other.
