ï 2008-Sep-10 - Mating Dominance Test: Region-mating vs Special Family mating (Part 2)
|
The results are in! Violetchi (North America) and Sukatchi (Asia/Oceania) have mated earlier today and have produced their offspring.
For this momentous occasion, I've captured the entire process and uploaded it on Youtube for your enjoyment.
In case you aren't aware of the experiment, this will test which mating process is more dominant. Will breeding two Tamagotchis that normally produce a pure family (Violetchi and Sukatchi at 100% bond) be negated by the fact that they come from different regions? Read more about the experiment's background here.
So make your guess (will they become a Space Family or Violet Family?), click the play button, and watch the coverage!

ï 2008-Sep-9 - Mating Dominance Test: Region-mating vs Special Family mating (Part 1)

I have two V5 Tamagotchis, both will be of mating age by tomorrow.
In these two tamagotchis we have a Sukatchi (in the fuschia one) and a Violetchi (in the cotton candy one). Both are now at 100% bonds.
Normally, when a Violetchi and a Sukatchi mate with 100% bond, it produces a special family called the Violet family. The Violetchi will turn into a Mamavioletchi, while the Sukatchi will turn into a Papakizatchi. They will then produce two eggs that will hatch into a mimifuwatchi and a omututchi. Eventually, the mimifuwatchi will evolve into Violetchi (adult) while the omututchi will turn into a Kizatchi (toddler/teen), thus completing this special family.
However, the two tamagotchis I have are of different regions. One is made in Asia/Oceania, while the other one is in North America. Normally, when mating V5 tamagotchis from different regions, they produce a special blended family. They will only produce one egg that will hatch into an Iwatchi, the baby of the "space family". It will evolve into a Hoshitchi during the toddler stage, Mikazukitchi during the teen stage and Sunnytchi during the adult stage.
Now, here is what will be tested. Will mating a Violetchi and a Sukatchi with 100% bond from 2 tamagotchis of different regions produce a Violet Family or a Space Family? Will we be getting a Omututchi and a Mimifuwatchi or an Iwatchi?
We will soon know.

For the 18-in-all-stats experiment, we have brothers Ryder and Rygar. Interestingly, Ryder took Ohana's universal path and turned into a Pyontitchi (the male version of the Pyonkotchi0 while his brother, Rygar, turned into a regular character in the form of Togetchi.
Since it's possible to have a regular character with 18-in-all-stats, we must then do more experiments until we find out the required minimum number of points needed to avoid getting an universal character.
I'm beginning to think that any amount of points can produce a regular character, but the lower they are, the lower the probability of your tamagotchi turning into one.
The experiment goes on!

So here's our 19-in-all-stats tamagotchi Ryana. Since she successfully evolved today into a regular character in mimitchi, our experiment has 19 as its minimum amount of skill points.
We will have a couple of tests with 18-in-all-stats tamagotchis to determine if the result gotten with Ohana can be duplicated. If we can manage to turn a tamagotchi into a regular character with 18 or possibly even lower, then this experiment will continue.

ï 2008-Jan-29 - The Race to 450 anew - Part 7 - It Ends
Morning of Day 6 Stats:
Name: Djanz
Type: Tensaitchi
Happy: 4
Hungry: 4
Intelligence (Pencil): 450
Fashion (Star): 0
Kindness (Flower): 0
Training: 9/9
Weight: 33 Lbs
Age: 4
After feeding him a single +1 intelligence ice cream, Djanz the Mametchi finally reached the 450 intelligence mark at age 4. Ten seconds later, he transformed into a Tensaitchi, making the "Race to 450 anew" experiment a success!
This experiment proves that:
- you can only have one stat filled and still have your tamagotchi turn into a special character (provided of course that you have the right teen and gender to do it)
- 450 is the least number of points you need for the special character evolution.
- my first "Race to 450" experiment failed because my character became too old for it to evolve into a special character.

Age: 4 I know. I came up short by one intelligence point to reach 450. I was trying to reach that beloved 450 that night by completing several Shape games. After a while, Djanz refused to play Shape anymore. I got out of the game mode and Djanz went to sleep. Yes, his weight (31 lbs) didn't allow him to play Shape anymore as a perfect game will make his weight go below a Mametchi's base weight of 30. I don't want to wake him up anymore by changing the time just to get the final point, so I'll have to get that solitary point in the morning by giving him the +1 intelligence ice cream. |

Saturday really paid off as I found enough time to feed Djanz a combination of fish, ice cream and omelettes (all guaranteed to increase intelligence of the tamagotchi in V4), play shape and complete Mr. Turtlepedia's classes.
Djanz gained a total of 96 intelligence points today, just 138 more to go in order to reach the big four-five-zero! |

Wow, real life struck and struck hard. I was busy almost the entire day with back to back meetings and other engagements that I could not find time to play with Djanz much. I didn't even complete his schooling today.
Yes, he is still at age 1 at this time. He'll probably be age 2 when he wakes up this morning.
<----------------------->
Something extra for today. I dropped by Toy Kingdom SM Makati during lunch time and noticed that the "tamagotchi shelf" there was now only half-filled with V4s. The other half is now occupied by tons of Pokemon plush toys. No more V4.5s and PC Packs were in sight.
So, UK now has their V5s as well as Bandai UK officially released them last Monday. Seven days to go before January ends. Hopefully, the January worldwide release date in Bandai's press release back then holds true.

It's really tough to balance real life and caring for 7 tamagotchis. However, I somehow found the time to increase Djanz's intelligence to 104 by playing shape a lot whenever inkling of time I find free. At least, I'm still on the right track. At age 1, with 104 intelligence points, I should be around 400 already come age 4.
Wish me luck!

ï 2008-Jan-22 - The Race to 450 anew - Part 1
I'm starting another race to 450 today. If you do not know what the race to 450 is, it is an experiment where you take good care of a tamagotchi, only filling up one statistic in hopes that when this reaches 450, it will evolve into a special character designated.
As tamagotchi lovers know, in the V4 Tamagotchi connection, it takes at least 350 in the specific skill needed + at least 100 more in skills for a total of at least 450 total skill points. For example, a young mametchi can turn into a tensaitchi with 375 intelligence, 25 fashion and 50 kindness = 450 total skill points.
So far, I haven't seen anyone test whether this also holds true if only one skill reaches the 450 mark. It fulfills all the requirements needed for evolution.
For example, like in my previous attempt at the race to 450, I raised a young memetchi's fashion stats to 450 in hopes that it will turn into a makiko. Unfortunately, that did not happen.
This time around it's with Djanz, currently a young androtchi that has 6 intelligence points due to a single instance of jump rope he had. If he evolves successfully into a Tensaitchi, then my earlier experiment was a failure most likely because she has reached the age where she could not evolve into a Makiko anymore.
Current Stats:
Name: Djanz
Type: Young Androtchi
Happy: 4
Hungry: 4
Intelligence (Pencil): 6
Fashion (Star): 0
Kindness (Flower): 0
Training: 4/9
Weight: 74 Lbs

If everything worked out correctly, then 18 is not the minimum number of points for a single stat needed in order to produce a non-universal character. As seen in the experiment screenshot above with Ohana, while having 18 in all stats, she turned into a Pyonkotchi.
A few more tests with characters having stats of 17, 18 or 19 will finally close the book. So far, a character needs to have at least 20 in a stat in order to become a non-universal character. Let's see if it holds in succeeding experiments. |
