ï 2008-May-17 - Tamagotchi Teufelchen (Tamagotchi Monster)

There's another "new" Tamagotchi game from Bandai!
Tamagotchi Teufelchen, or Tamagotchi Monster is the fourth J2ME Tamagotchi game by Bandai on the mobile phones. The first one, Tamagotchi, was a P1 port. The second one was Tamagotchi Soccer, a remake of Tamagotchi but with a soccer theme. Tamagotchi Angel, a port of the virtual pet with the same name was the third game on the mobile phone.
If you are familiar with the Tamagotchi Devil or Devilgotchi, then this is that virtual pet that is now ported to the mobile gaming world. Most Japanese Tama-lovers may recognize this pet already, but others may have only seen this the firs time as this was never released outside Japan and in English. This is one of those Japan-exclusive Tamagotchis like the Tamagotchi Angel.
Why the name change? I'm not really sure, but most likely it has something to do with some people's religious sensitivity about the word devil. It's a sanitized Devilgotch, so to speak.
Released this May, it features everything that a Devilgotch had back then, but with better graphics and sounds. It also has a different flush icon (before, it looked like buttocks), and four shell colors. Most likely, this is the closest we can get to a colored screen Tamagotchi pet.
It runs in real time. Just like the Tamagotchi Angel for the mobile, even if you don't open the game, it will still continue running like all Tamagotchis do. Expect the hungry and friends hearts to be empty and the screen full of poop if you forget to take care of your little monster.

ï 2007-Sep-19 - One of the Worst Characters You Can Get

It's the Nyorotchi, a tamagotchi character I believe is not available anymore in the recent Tamagotchi incarnations. It's not a pretty character, even in pixel form. I just can imagine how "scary" it looks if it was ported to V4 connections and made it come close to the screen.
Just look at the description: Slimy, Skinny, Sickly. It looks like a part kuchi, and part snake/worm. Not cute at all. Kids will have nightmares when they get this. At leas, Gozarutchis and Masktchis are not as bad as this character.
Also, sickly is really an understatement as it really gets sick a lot. |

ï 2007-Sep-15 - It's one of the main tamas, the Kuchipatchi!

Despite being not very bright, he became one of the main tamagotchis, along with Mametchi, Memetchi and Furawatchi (Violetchi). Way to go Kuchipatchi!
Can't say the same for Mimitchi though... |

ï 2007-Sep-13 - Presenting the Marutchi!

It's every tama's toddler back then, the most crucial stage of what the outcome of your tamagotchi will be. Back then, what tamagotchi you get reflects on how you took care of the tama mostly during this stage. Whether you let it get sick because of the multiple tama poop on the screen, or take care of it tremendously, the end result will be the tamagotchi that best matches your care. |

ï 2007-Sep-12 - Presenting... Babytchi!

Before there were teletchis, tsubutchis, shirotsubutchis and the like, there was the babytchi. It is the baby form of all tamagotchis, whether female or male. Of course back then, there were no tamagotchi genders yet. |

ï 2007-Sep-5 - Tamagotchi Mobile

Released by LivingMobile and Bandai in 2004, the famous virtual pet Tamagotchi finds its way to arguably the most used portable gadget of people today, the cellphone. It mostly emulates the P1/P2 editions of the Tamagotchi. Food is only the sandwich; the snack is only the candy.
If the tamagotchi got a graphics upgrade and got color, this is sort of what I imagined it to look like. Of course, the new Tamagotchi editions had a graphic makeover already. Our beloved Kuchipatchi doesn't look like the one in the picture above anymore.
You can also switch to pixel mode if you want to fully relive the first edition of the Tamagotchi.
It has three games: jump rope, catch? (you move your tama left or right to catch five falling happy faces) and guess? (you guess whether your tama would face left or right -- just like the P1 game)
You can also change shell colors from the 6 available (pink/yellow, yellow/orange, purple/pink, white/blue, green/yellow, blue/blue). See the highlighted icon in the fourth screen above? That's the icon they placed in the mobile edition to change the shell color according to what you like.
It doesn't run in full real time. If it is not currently running in your phone, it will not grow at all. Due to this flaw, it will get boring after a while since it will take quite some time for the tamagotchi to evolve. Even if its running at its fastest, it is still slow.
After all, you can only feed and play with it so much. It will also sap your battery much faster when it is running. I've had this program for quite some time already, but I still only have one generation so far.
At least you have the option to skip the sleep stages of the tamagotchi.
What I like best about this edition is the inclusion of tama facts. It may not be much gameplay-wise, but at least you get to know your tamagotchi character a little bit more. Yes, you get to know facts such as -- a Kuchipatchi is a well-disciplined character but wasn't given enough love. You'll know why you got a certain character because of these facts.
I'll try to post some screens of these facts some time soon.
