Tamagotchi Philippines
ï 2008-Aug-3 - TIN: A Story about Love
Tamagotchi in the News (TIN) showcases news articles, weblogs and media appearances that may or may not be Tamagotchi-related but for some reason, Bandai's virtual pet gets mentioned in some way or appears in some form showing that it is still part of our lives.
This could probably be the best article I've ever read about our little virtual friend, the Tamagotchi. After I read it, I knew that it had to be featured in the blog.
Haaretz.com has an article up about a mother's experience with her child and the Tamagotchi. The starting line caught me right away.
"They'll go back to the land of Tama." "But Mommy, you don't understand. They're going to die." the child cried when he realized he forgot his Tamagotchi, but they could not turn back because they were stuck in traffic. Even though the child knew that the device can be reset, the child insisted that they need to rescue the virtual pet.
I felt really touched when I read this article, like I could exactly relate to what the child is feeling throughout. How attached can one person be to this little toy? It is something that a non tama-lover couldn't probably understand.

ï 2008-Jul-28 - TIN: Tamagotchi Nightmares?
Tamagotchi in the News (TIN) showcases news articles, weblogs and media appearances that are NOT Tamagotchi-related but for some reason, Bandai's virtual pet gets mentioned in some way or appears in some form showing that it is still part of our lives.

The Game Guy blog shares his comments about a recent study in Germany that claims that there are no links between games and nightmares.
For some reason, he manages to insert the Tamagotchi in his comments, noting that an hour spent with Tamagotchi can cause nightmares to the user.
I never had Tamagotchi nightmares so far, but as for games and the nightmares link, I've dreamt of the game Obscure: the Aftermath once after I played it in the afternoon. I dreamt of people mutating into the distorted uncontrollable monsters in the game.
How the cute Tamagotchi characters appear in nightmares is beyond me. Guess some people find them scary.

ï 2008-Jul-2 - TIN: Russian Women Don't Like to Go Dutch
Tamagotchi in the News (TIN) showcases news articles, weblogs and media appearances that are NOT Tamagotchi-related but for some reason, Bandai's virtual pet gets mentioned in some way or appears in some form showing that it is still part of our lives.

The Independent has an article up shedding some light on why Russian's wealthier women do not like to go Dutch. In a world of gender equality and girl power, Russian women seemingly still want to stick to the days of chivalry, where everything is more romantic, where the man normally gives gifts to the women and pays for almost everything.
Just like a Tamagotchi. Very interesting analogy here.
Just like me, a male owner feeding my Tamagotchi with ice cream and scones, playing in other to get points to buy the virtual pet some items that it may like, checking it every now and then to see how it is doing.
Now maybe one can start a study on why women are like Tamagotchis.

Friendfeed's aim is to keep the people up to date with web content to make sure that all of its users are happy. A comment from Paul Graham calls this "Be Good" mantra the Tamagotchi effect.
Who knew the Tamagotchi can be used for motivational purposes? |

ï 2008-Jun-3 - TIN: Party-Pooping Thieves
Tamagotchi in the News (TIN) showcases news articles, weblogs and media appearances that are NOT Tamagotchi-related but for some reason, Bandai's virtual pet gets mentioned in some way or appears in some form showing that it is still part of our lives.

Today's TIN takes us to a sad story of thieves stealing the birthday money of a six-year-old child inside a shopping store last May 30.
http://www.gazetteandherald.co.uk/news/headlines/display.var.2307218.0.youngsters_birthday_money_stolen.php
A family rummaging through a child's bag and getting the money inside is certainly appalling and shows how low some people will go to get a quick buck. Way to wreck someone's perfect day.
If there is some bright point in this story, the thieves left the Tamagotchi behind. At least, she would not have to suffer an additional heartbreaking loss by losing a pet as well. |
